Free People Neon Necklaces

I was at the mall the other day and went into the Free People store. Instantly these necklaces caught my eye! Summer is all about bright colors and Free People definitely took it a step further.

What do you guys think? I actually really like them, but if I were to get one I probably get the black since it's more versatile. They're about $32 each...not bad I guess, I don't know. I guess it's one of those things you can decide whether you want to splurge on...

Put on Your Shades for the Neon Heels Are Coming!

Hello Fellow Fashionistas--first off, sorry for the non-posting for the last few days, I've been crazy busy. But everything is slowly coming back to normal and now I have my time!

Now, what about them neon colored heels? I was at DSW shoes the other day and I saw these HOT PINK heels that had a silver heel. They were definitely eye-catching and the people that passed by were all like "Whhaaaa" At first I was like omg, too bright and crazy. But I'm slowly starting to warm up to them. I was thinking in my head, okay, since it's such a bright color and speaks the loudest in a outfit, I would need to wear something that offsets the brightness with a subtle and plain outfit if you will. They are cute with grey, navy, and black tones.

I mean who could say no to these Christian Louboutin Neon Green Pumps???
Take a risk, fashionistas! Give your outfit a boost of color!

Oily Skin Woes and Product Review: MAC Blot Powder

Before I get to my review, I think its only fair to describe my skin and situation to you guys a bit. Maybe some of you can sympathize, but I have oily skin. I mean, super oily. Like, press a blot paper to my forehead, and the sheet becomes clear. Swipe my hand across my forehead, and there's a thin sheen of oil on the back of my hand now. Sorry for the gross imagery!

So as you can see, I'm always desperately looking to control my oil production. I don't wear foundation, but I do spot conceal and use Stila Illuminating Powder Foundation to set it.

That's Stila Illuminating Powder Foundation above, and while I adore it because it matches my skin perfectly and give my skin a great luminous look, it doesn't do such a great job of controlling oil. After two hours, I have to powder my skin again, and unfortunately, it starts to feel and look cake-y on my skin after the second application.

So I decided to invest in MAC Powder Blot (21$)

The purpose of this powder according to the MAC website is, "A unique pressed powder designed primarily to provide shine control without adding any noticeable colour or texture. Sets foundation, finishes faces." As you can see, the product comes with this awful puff that sucks.

There are very limited color options: Light, Medium, Medium Dark, Dark, Deep Dark because its not supposed to add any noticeable color. The makeup artist at MAC recommended that I get Medium, which is actually a pretty light shade, and I'm starting to regret it because the fact of the matter is, it does deposit a bit of color. I'm going to have to blame that on the puff it comes with though, which picks up way too much powder and makes my face look washed out.

On the flipside, it does do a pretty good job of controlling oil. After applying this powder, my skin looks really matte and healthy and grease-free. On me, it lasts about four to five hours before my skin starts to get a bit shiny, which I'm fine with, since the powder doesn't cake or sit on my face. Also, I tried applying the powder with a sponge instead of the awful puff it comes with, and the sponge is ten times better. With a sponge, the powder isn't visible on my face, so if you're planning on buying this, toss out the puff because it's useless and picks up way too much powder.

On the whole, I didn't fall instantly in love with this powder, but I think it does a good job of doing its purpose: controlling oil. It hasn't broken me out (yet), and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it doesn't. I think I just have to keep playing around with it a bit, but I think this product has a lot of potential to possibly reach Holy Grail status!

It's Wedding Season! What to do? What to wear?!

hey fashionistas--

It's that time of the year where people frantically look for that cute dress to wear to weddings, prom, graduation, and end of the year parties. It's a tough time because each environment is different and finding that one dress can be quite difficult! This post is specifically about weddings, since I have one on the 6th of June.

Tips for what to wear for Weddings:

1) DO NOT wear white or beige. We can't have a fight down with the brides, it's their day so it's their color.

2)Wear a cute sundress for a day wedding. Don't wear black to a day wedding. You can wear black to an evening reception or ceremony.

3) Do not wear clubbing clothes for a evening reception. There's a time and place for everything.

4) Be sexy, but yet modest. You're going to be around lots of kids, family, and old folks. Let's not have them gawk at you, especially the young boys.

5) Bring a clutch big enough to carry all your essentials.

6) Wear shoes you know you're going to be comfortable in. Don't force yourself to suffer after the first hour just because they're cute. Believe me, you will regret it and won't be able to have a good time.

7) Add in your "ooomph". Yes these are all tips/rules to dress for a wedding, but you don't need to downplay your originality either. Add that YOU pizzazz!

White Denim...IS the ISH

White denim is so hot for the summer! White denim jeans, skirts, shorts, you name it. It goes with any top. Preferably, I like to wear like a colorful top with white denim because it reminds of a white canvas with your top as a the painting. It will definitely make you stand out in sea of blue denim. That was so yesterday, white denim always works!

Notice she is wear nude shoes with her white denim...HOT!

Spring Cleaning!

Now that the semester is over, I've been doing something that I've been neglecting all year: cleaning. Specifically, cleaning out my closet. It's hard, I know to throw out clothes that you love from long ago, but really, when your closet is filled with unwearable clothes, stuff has got to go. And while you may be leery of throwing out clothes in our economy, taking inventory of what you've got now will help you decide what you really need in your closet, what you don't need, and what you want.

So here are some tips to help you get started!

1. Give away anything that no longer fits you.
Keeping a pair of jeans or a dress that fit you a couple of months ago is okay, but keeping an entire wardrobe full of jeans you wore five years ago is not. Dress for the body size you are, not the body size you want to be.

2. Give away or throw out anything you don't like
I know! This one seems like a no-brainer, but I'm guilty of keeping things I've impulse bought simply because I bought it, and I don't want to give it away. You keep telling yourself you might wear it one day...

3. Throw out anything that has stains or rips in it
Your favorite shirt got stained, but you're secretly convinced no one will see that tiny brown spot? I'm kind of guilty of this one too, but really, people do see it, and it really does make for sloppy presentation.

4. Give away or throw out anything that is age-inappropriate
I'm a 20 year old woman. I should not be wearing baby tees with monkeys all over them and Aeropostale, Hollister, or Abercrombie strewn across the front. Your style evolves, so your closet should evolve with it. When you keep clothes like this in your closet, you'll only be tempted to keep reaching for it and wearing it.

Happy spring cleaning, ladies!

Tulip skirts all the rage!!!!!!!

I'm obsessed with tulip skirts right now! I love the way they shape the hips and also can accentuate the booty too! A tulip skirt would look great with a tank and some high heels. I've been trying to find some at the stores, but no luck yet.

This outfit will elongate your legs also giving you a classy yet trendy look. The important thing that makes this outfit work is that you have to tuck in your tank top or else it will look sloppy and makes you look shapeless. You need to tuck in the tank top to enhance your hips and define the outfit more.

More tulip skirts...would you wear one? All skirts are from Asos.com

Nordstrom's Half Yearly Sale---

Helllooo--just letting you all know that Nordstrom will be having their yearly half sale starting May 20th. Right now it's the presale. So go and maybe you'll find some cute items. With the way the economy is they probably marked down a lot of items for really cheap.

Overused Trends

Dear Ones, this is my first post on TFoM! but there is an issue that cannot go unaddressed ONE MORE MINUTE! This would be the issue--dare I say, tragedy--of overused trends. Now there are many that we can speak of, however I think it is fair to bring up the leggings trend! Yes, darlings, the leggings trend. While we all love the idea of full coverage, while still showing off the gams, am I not correct to point out that it is nearly summer and people are still wearing leggings!? I find this frustrating... especially since so few people (and even so few celebs...) can properly rock this trend. When the legging trend was re-born in France in 2007 (trust me people, I was there watching it develop), I was excited. The possibilities involved with leggings were limitless and the chic French ladies were able to carry out the trend fabulously, pairing them with the ever-comfortable flat shoe and stand-out accessories. However, what was once a great trend that should have died out in due time, is now lingering on our favorite celebs and on our semi-best-friend-co-coworker-gal pal...you know who I am talking about. Now, maybe we all are to blame for this overused trend...after all, who didn't go out and snag 5 different pairs of leggings when this 80's-inspired look popped back up? I know I invested in a few pair myself... However, ladies, let's just consider that trends are meant to come and go... so please let the leggings go. If not for good, just for the summer season. You can pull them back out in winter with a comfy sweater and I may forgive you for it...may ...

Matthew Williamson--Tomorrow Everywhere

Hello fashionistas--

The H&M Matthew Williamson is coming out everywhere tomorrow. Right now, it's only available in a few H&M stores in the US, but tomorrow every store should be getting their share of the pie.

When I was in NYC, I went to go visit H&M on 5th Ave, mind you there's 3 of them on 5th Avenue, the selection was quite small. It was only cardigans and maybe some tank tops, I don't remember. I couldn't take pictures. But I hope all the stores get a full line, because I just love his stuff!

Just so everyone is on the same page, Matthew Williamson is a British designer who loves to play with punk themes and colors. His stuff is awesome!

Here's a couple outfit from the collection for H&M:

Obsessed with the color CORAL--SUMMER color

Lately anything that has accents of the coral color I go raging mad! I love the color! It's bright, fun, flirty! Cliche as that sounds, but it's so perfect for the summer! With your tan, the coral color embraced with pink or light red will definitely complement each other well! Trust me! Pop any outfit with this color!
