(500) Days of Summer

Sigh. I just got back from watching this movie, and my head is still spinning. (500) Days of Summer is unique, poignant, hilarious, and all around fucking awesome. I definitely recommend that you check it out.

Here are a couple of quotes to get you intrigued...

"This is a story of boy meets girl. The boy, Tom Hansen, grew up believing that he’d never truly be happy until the day he met the one. The girl, Summer Finn, did not share this belief. You should know up front this is not a love story."

"He's got a face like Brad Pitt and Jesus' abs."

Tom’s Co-worker: I tried to talk to her in the coffee room she’s totally not having it.

Tom: Maybe she was just in a hurry.

Tom’s Co-worker: And maybe she’s an uppity, better-than-everyone super skank.

Not only are you gonna love the movie, you can go just to drool over how stunning Zooey Deschanel is in this movie. It's pretty much the retro style that Zooey normally rocks but man, does she make it look good. There are a lot of hair bows, ribbons tied in the hair, and cute vintage frocks. Lots of skirts with tights, puffed shirts, and old-school styling going on in the movie. She's like a more relaxed, approachable, less uppity version of Blair Waldorf from Gossip Girl.

Don't get me wrong, I love Blair Waldorf, but her style is sometimes a bit too contrived, perfect, and thought out for my liking. I love the thrown, slightly mussed up look a bit more, and Zooey looks perfect throughout the entire movie!

This is her work attire, people! I lurve the navy tie blouse with the ivory vest over it! And the blue ribbon she ties in the back of her ponytail is so adorable I want to rip out her scalp and place it on mine. Kidding! Kinda. Lucky for her scalp, that the ribbon on the back of her ponytail is completely doable.
I love her dress in this shot, and I absolutely love her hair throughout the entire movie. It's imperfectly perfect.
Ch-ch-check it out!

Summer Braids

Braids have been the popular summer hairstyle of choice for many seasons now, and for good reason. They're gorgeous, unique, and youthful! If you're a little tired of the same old braid styles we've been seeing lately, here are some pictures of some gorgeous braided hairstyles that are easy and effortless to do!

I am absolutely in love with this braided messy bun that Nicole Richie and Lauren Conrad are rocking here. It's a beautiful summertime look and its so unique, you know you'll draw attention for how lovely it is. All you have to do is part your hair down the middle or to the side, french braid both sides of your hair until you reach the neck, secure it with a band, and then pull the ends into a messy bun at the nape of your neck! Trust me, it's a lot easier than it sounds and looks!

Here's how it looks from the front:L.C's makeup is looking pretty fresh and ferosh here, too.

Another gorgeous braided hairstyle I love is demonstrated on Helen Kruger below:
The side braid is my favorite casual hairstyle, but Helen's has a bit of a twist to it if you look carefully. She started with a regular french braid in the back, and then once she moves past the nape of the neck, it morphs into a fishtail braid. I <3 fishtail braids! They give a slightly different look from the normal french braid or regular three strand braid you would normally see.

So there you go! There are tons of gorgeous braided looks out there for you to experiment with, and the best part of braids is that they can look messy and tousled, and it still looks good! Happy hairstyling, ladies!

Forever 21: Getting into the Furniture business!!

This, I think will be really interesting. I have to say that some of their furnishings in the store is cute. I think that this past year, Forever 21 has really stepped up their game in the fashion industry. More and more of their clothes are more trendier, not so much low-quality anymore. I've been really glad that for these past months, I have been able to snag a couple of 100% silk tops at a affordable price! I wonder what's next for them! I just hope that with all these new products coming out, the quality won't decrease or get worse.

Marc Jacobs dress look for Less.

Yes, I have to do one of these. I'm pretty sure we're all tight with our budget, especially me. I found this gorgeous dress that looks like the Marc Jacobs dress I've been looking for! Why spend 500$+ when you buy the same thing for less?

Here's the original one with Blair from Gossip Girl. I usually don't like dressing one color because I feel like a crayon. But here it's done perfectly, everything is so stark white and crisp that it doesn't look tacky.

Similar to above, minus the bow. I still like it although if I could I would buy the original. But it's still cute!

Die for Tye Dye Dresses?

HeyLo fashionistas!

Sorry for the lack of updates on my part! I've been real tight on my schedule.

Anywho, while I was at the beach I saw some people sporting tye dye and some of the boardwalk beach shops selling tye dye dresses. I'm kinda on the fence on this trend. I guess it really all depends on whether the colors mesh well together and whether the tye dye isn't too outta hand.

I like some of these:

I definitely don't like this one. It's totally unflattering to the body, it's just a large cloth that is draped around her body. It's so shapeless and the color scheme is ugly and it looks cheap. Surprisingly this one is the most of expensive, about 100$ or so from Revolve Clothing. Just goes to show that something that is expensive does not mean that it's automatically nice.

I like this one! The yellow and the blue blend so well together! It's also one shoulder and I like the way it fits...tres cute! This one is from Lulus.

This one is cute too! Love the blue. Tye dye design is not too much. Just nice, from F21.

Also from F21, but I think it looks a tad boring. If you wear this, put on a bright belt or a statement necklace.

New Rising Trend Alert--Neon Pink Lips

I'm loving this new trend. Overall, I love makeup that is pink. When I saw celebrities and models on the runway flashing neon pink lips, I was like OMG, I must have that. I love the way it looks, it is a nice bright flash of color on your face if you feel like going without make-up. It also looks great with smokey eyes or the cat eyes.

Check out Miss B's hot pink lips, the color just meshes well with her eye make-up. Her eye makeup is dark, but her lips brighten up her face. It also goes well with the white outfit ensemble she is wearing, which I love the belt!

Another really good example of dark eyeliner integrating well with the bright pink lips. The neon pink lip color really opens up the color on her face and complements well with the dark eye liner.

Here's another awesome lip color worn by Agness Deyn!

Madonna LV Photoshoot---Fall/Winter 2009

Let's face it: Madonna is a legend! She's an awesome superstar and a fashion forward icon. Match her up with one of the leading fashion powerhouse: Louis Vuitton and you get a match made in heaven. Spreading around the internet like a virus are these beautiful, artistic, highly photo-shopped pictures of the Fall/Winter 2009 ad campaign. Madonna looks incredibly young and almost angelic-esque if you will. A little over the time, but I'm loving the bunny ears!!

Everything about this picture is screams photoshopped. Her skin looks so flawless and kind of robotic looking. I guess the ad creators were trying to create her as a porcelain doll with a LV bag, like of those rigid porcelain dolls that don't move a lot. That's what she remains me of. I still want those bunny ears...Halloween costume idea...;)

I love the way they did her makeup! It's the perfect blend of bronze, plum, and the soft pink color lips. The way the colors in the background blend together from olive green to crimson purple is just awesome. It's like a mix of Alice in Wonderland with a scene from Moulin Rouge. Loves it!

Herve Leger Spring 2009 and Resort 2009

I was browsing the bcbg website because someone told me that they were having a sale. As I went and browsed, didn't really find anything cute. I decided to look at Herve Leger collections and torture myself. I love his creatives for the color gray and also giving the trend of metallics a new spin. Owning a Herve Leger is an investment not a trend-fading splurge. Here are picks from the Spring 2009 and Resort 2009 collection.

Omg! I love this ruby red HL swimsuit!

I love how the straps go across the chest, it's very artistic and abstract looking, plus it would look great with a pair of cobalt
color heels!

Look at the beautiful and sparkling gold metallics! It blends together so well that it looks like gold paint.
