Style Icons Part 2: True Blood, Sookie Stackhouse

This is part 2 of a multi-part series I'm posting over some of my style icons and inspirations :)

My current television obsession at the moment? True Blood, the vampire series that's on HBO. The first season premiered in fall of last year. Trust me, if you love vamps, Twilight, anything slightly macabre yet subtly hilarious, check this show out. It's like Twilight strictly for adults, and it's completely addictive.

A very minor part of the reason why I love this show is because I absolutely love Sookie Stackhouse, the main character. The show takes place in the deep south, in the fictional town of Bon Temps, Lousiana. And the wardrobe definitely reflects that :)

I adore this crochet kimono top she's wearing as a cover-up for her adorable polka dot bikini!

Being a southern belle myself, I'm completely drawn to the adorable sundresses that Sookie wears, and I completely covet her gorgeous hair! All her dresses are very vintage-styled with sweetheart necklines, halter tops, and fluttery skirts. Perfect for summer!

Personally, I always have my hair in my face because my bangs are growing out and so on and so forth, and I know a lot of girls are in the same boat. But look how pretty you can look when you pull your hair back! Either with a headband like Sookie or just pulling it all back into a nice sleek ponytail, I think its a nice and refreshing way of showing off how pretty your face is and makes you look years younger. Just tease a bit at the front before pulling your hair back or putting on a headband for a little extra texture and volume at the front!

Most of all, I think I love Sookie's style because she is always highlighting her femininity in some way. Too often, I think women shy away from that, I guess b/c we have this stigma that being girly is a bad thing. Well you know what I say to that? Eff that, I'm a girl and proud of it!

The second season of True Blood starts June 14th on HBO. You can watch the first season online. Be sure to check it out!
